Since its creation in 1981, SOWAREX has been focussing on promoting artists from the French-speaking community of Wallonia and Brussels through support for record production and its two main labels:

Franc'Amour is the label for "Made in Belgium" chanson. It accompanies young independent talent with something to say, irrespective of fashions or trends. After Maurane, Odieu, Pascal Charpentier, Maljean-Willems and Claude Semal in the eighties, it followed the paths of Philippe Tasquin, Vincent Trouble, Marc Lelangue, Christiane Stefanski, songs for children with Christian Merveille and then Jean-Louis Daulne, Pascale Vyvère and Sing Sing. It helped the revival of music in Walloon with William Dunker and even released some African music such as Wendo, Embowassa or the fusion sounds of Tomas & Co.

IGLOO was formed in 1978. Since its creation, Igloo's work has evolved considerably. Initially confined to rather left-field marginal productions
(contemporary music, electronic), the association progressively moved into jazz - a field which was largely ignored by traditional producers in Belgium. This orientation was confirmed by Igloo's take-over of the jazz label  "LDH". The label offers now a glimpse into 25 years of jazz and improvised music .
Nathalie Loriers, Philippe Aerts, Philip Catherine, Michel Herr, Steve Houben, Eric Legnini, Charles Loos, Ivan Paduart, Jacques Pelzer,  Sadi,  Diederik Wissels, Pascal Schumacher,  Manu Hermia, Anne Wolf… these are just some of the artists who made IGLOO what it is today.

Although the Igloo label is best known for its jazz productions, it has preserved the more eclectic vocation of its origins under the « Igloo + » imprint, as well as remaining open to other horizons by supporting multi-cultural encounters. The label now also has a world music imprint, « Igloo Mondo » mostly reserved for meetings and exceptional collaborations between musicians. These include Pierre Van Dormael with the Senegalese kora player Soriba Kouyaté, Charles Loos and the Aissawas of Rabat, Anfass, Majid Bekkas and Mâäk Spirit with the Gnaoua Express from Tangier…Igloo, a source of warmth in a cold sea, now has its balcony on the world.
